Is poker popular in Egypt? Maybe, but we should check with Hosni Mubarak first, as it appears he’s an avid player on Full Tilt Poker. His stats on the popular poker site show him as an incredible Sit and Go player:

One player in the Two Plus Two forum took some time to look up some information on the player claiming to be Hosni Mubarak, the 81 year old president of Egypt. According to the gentleman’s profile on the forum, he’s an 81 year old man who lives in Cairo al Qahriah (Egypt).
Several players have chimed in on the thread, some having faced him in heads up games. One indicated that, due to a custom avatar, he believed the man to be a professional player. Another friend of his jumped in and loved the graph because it was hardly an example of his income growth on the site. This is only his Sit n Go climb to the top.
As many are clearly indicating, this thread is entertaining. There is no opportunity for a political president to compete so effectively, when there is unrest around him.

Clearly showing he’s not the real Hosni Mubarak but proving he’s well integrated into the entertainment aspect of this thread. This account was created 5 years ago, and is played by a man who, at the time, believed the handle was entertaining. Clearly the political climate has changed and so has the perception.
